You will find waterwear ranging from shirts (also called rash guards and water shirts), to water pants and one piece outfits in long and short sleeve styles. If you are going to be in chemically treated water be sure to choose products that are made of chlorine resistant SPF fabric. (You will see a Chlorine Resistant sticker on the picture of water wear made of chlorine resistant fabric.) Products not made of chlorine resistant fabrics will last a long time in salt and fresh water ... and have the advantage of being less expensive.
A Frequently Asked Question: We are often asked if a long sleeve Rash Guard is hotter than a short Rash Guard. The answer in no because you are in the water and the water temperature is what you will be feeling. You will, however, be keeping your forearms protected if you choose a long sleeve shirt. Also, you can use your waterwear to keep you cool on land. You will get evaporative cooling when your out of the water and your waterwear is wet. Wearing long sleeves will give you a larger wet area for evaporative cooling. |
